Arend Mosterd obtained his PhD degree with a thesis on the epidemiology of heart failure (1997). He was trained in Clinical Epidemiology at Erasmus Medical Center Rotterdam and the Framingham Heart Study. Since 2001 he works as a cardiologist at Meander Medical Center, Amersfoort. From 2013 through 2019 he served as chair of the Dutch Network for Cardiovascular Research (WCN; www.wcn.life). Currently he chairs the scientific advisory board of the Netherlands Heart Foundation. His research topics range from sports cardiology to clinical trials. He has contributed to many CV outcome trials, most notably the LoDoCo2 study (Colchicine in patients with chronic coronary disease – NEJM 2020).
