Floating Offshore Hydrogen Farms: Scalable Green H₂ Production at Sea. To meet Europe’s growing hydrogen demand, COG introduces the Floating Offshore H₂ Generator, a breakthrough concept that produces and stores green hydrogen directly at sea. Powered by offshore wind turbines and decoupled from the land-based grid, each floating unit generates hydrogen via electrolysis and stores it safely in a Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carrier (LOHC). This liquid can be transported and stored using existing oil infrastructure at ambient conditions, offering a cost-effective and scalable solution. Supported by the Technical University of Hamburg and Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg, COG’s patent-pending technology paves the way for gigawatt-scale Offshore H₂ Farms that bridge the gap between fossil and renewable energy.
